maybe you don’t realize that you are a my sunlight on dark days

you are every good thing crafted into skin, bones, a heart, soul, spirit, smile

life

you are the energy of life

you are the living embodiment of safety

you are my safety

you are my r e s t

when i close my eyes i see you

and then i see running water

clear and cold and pure

i see the movement of life and growth

refreshing, healing

new

you are the reflection of sunlight dancing on the rippling, spring water as it flows towards home

you a r e the sunlight

you a r e the water

you are strong and soft and fierce and steady and cool and gentle and playful and warm and sweet

you are a whole new way of looking at life

maybe you don’t realize that when you kiss my lips and touch my skin i feel it in my deepest depths

like you are gently waking me from a deep sleep, showing me dimensions of myself that i was unaware of

and you pull me from the shadows that i had made friends with

and you show me that i know how to dance

you show me how to love the light even more than i did before you

even more than i knew i could

maybe you don’t realize that you do all this

simply by existing

and letting me exist with you

i don’t think you realize how truly wonderful you are to me

this is why i write out all these words to you
